Richard Wingate grew up in South Georgia, where he attended Irwin County High School and graduated in 1994. Following high school, he immediately moved to Atlanta to pursue his undergraduate education at the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology.
At Georgia Tech, Richard distinguished himself academically, graduating magna cum laude in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biology and a minor in Health Sciences. After graduation, he began his professional career as an environmental consultant, gaining valuable experience in scientific analysis and problem-solving that would later prove invaluable in his legal practice.
Seeking to make a greater impact in helping others, Richard transitioned to law and attended Georgia State University College of Law. During his time in law school, he formed lasting professional relationships with the attorneys who would become his colleagues for the next two decades. He earned his Juris Doctor in December 2003 and immediately began focusing his practice on representing plaintiffs and those who have been injured.
With over 21 years of legal experience, Richard has built a distinguished career advocating for injury victims. He practiced in partnership until the end of 2024, when his longtime partner retired. Tragically, his partner was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away in April, marking the end of a meaningful professional relationship that spanned over a decade and a half.
Richard has been married to his wife Kelly since 2003. Together, they have raised three sons: Gray, currently at the University of Georgia; Ben, at Georgia Tech; and Alec, in Pope High School in Marietta. When he’s not advocating for his clients, Richard enjoys spending time outdoors pursuing his passions for fishing, camping, hunting, and other outdoor activities.
