New Construction

You will notice that there is new construction just north of the old eleven-story building on 2nd Ave. This is the new courthouse being constructed to house all the judicial functions in Muskogee County. For the time being, court is being held in the old building, but we anticipate sometime in 2026 the new building will open, which should bring more efficiency, technology, and accessibility to the courts and people.

The old building should be empty by the end of 2026. What happens to it next is still being determined. Some have considered it for conversion into housing. The cost for its demolition may be prohibitive. In the meantime, all of the other government functions that were housed in the building for the past 75 years have been moved to other locations in the city, including a new City Hall located on Broadway.
